We have been trying to find a replacement tailor's pencil for years, and the only one that we have that we like is now so short that it is almost gone. We have tried all sorts of apparently similar products, but they have never worked as well. All we wanted was a thin line, in a chalk that would transfer onto the fabric easily and brush off when we were ready. We tried traditional tailor's chalk (ok but a bit crumbly, difficult to maintain a thin line and very hard to accurately mark a point as it is so large and blunt); various pencils (all seemed to have leads that were too hard, so that you had to press really hard to make any mark on the fabric, which in turn would move and wrinkle what you were trying to mark); and chalk wheels (these never worked as well as they should have done, because they left a thin dusting of chalk in an approximate line, which had vanished by the time you so much as breathed on the fabric). This pencil overcomes all those problems. The chalk is soft enough to leave a clear line without having to press on the fabric, and solid enough to stay there until you have finished with it. It is narrow enough to be able to draw a clear line or mark a small point. It is easy to hold and use, and the different coloured chalks mean that you can use it on pretty much any fabric. Finally, we may be able to stop looking and get back to sewing again!Read full review

This pencil is ideal for crafting. Its easy to hold and the chalk is easy to change so you can use different colours. It resembles a propelling pencil and works in exactly the same way, it just uses chalk instead of lead. Brilliant idea and would thoroughly recommend it.

This is the best mechanical tailor's chalk pens ever. It is dense in colour you only need soft pressure for it to mark fabrics. Absolutely love it and will buy more from wholesalers for my business

Great for marking up of fabric. Nice fine line which means that when cutting out you can be really accurate with sizing.

5 stars. Good value for money. More accurate than (and also no crumbling as with) the traditional, triangular tailors chalk. Several different colours of leads included for different coloured fabrics. Cleans off the fabric easily. Speedy delivery. The one downside is you have to use a fair amount of pressure to open the ‘clutch’ to release/replace the chalk leads, more so than with the artists version of this pencil (which I also have). Other than that I can’t fault it.
