Output increased but still hard work
I have used this knocker so far on 3" posts which is its upper limit. If the posts are misshapen and at all oblate at this size the machine will not fit them. I still needed to make a pilot hole for each post even in quite soft ground. The machine is heavy so set up 5 or 10 posts in a row and knock them in one after another to save having to keep picking it up.
Having said that, I managed to do 15 3" posts to a depth of 60cm in an hour including setting them up and I was happy with the result. I am sure thinner posts would be a breeze.
This post knocker is easy to start, usually on first pull. It comes in its own carrying case which also provides some protection. The machine is heavy and quite awkward and there is a trade off whether it is worth using against a hand knocker. It is worth using if you have a lot of posts and will save you time and increase your output but it is still hard work.
Whilst quite well made, I am sure it would be easily damaged if left upright and it toppled over. Always lay it down with the starter recoil facing upwards.
I strongly recommend using grip gloves and ear defenders with this machine.
