The quality of steel
I am 58 years old a carpenter/joiner by trade, I have not used this chisel set yet. I bought it to replace a well worn sharpened and ground lots of times set of Marples blue chip chisels. Although there marples split proof handle bevelled edge chisels I know the steel will never be the quality of earlier marples chisels. The ones I purchased when I was 16 years old because the steel is recycled with lots of impurities in and no where near the quality of good old Sheffield made steel.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

The chisels are good value for money. As with all chisels, they only perform as well as the sharpening that you apply. They required a little bit of work to flatten the backs, and the finish could be a bit better although for the price I cant complain.
