Having used many reels in 50 year of fishing around the world in fresh water, I thought it time to give the MAP Carptek ASC FS a go. I was looking for the ability to hit a big carp and know that when it started to run and it was going to give me no choice but to hang on for dear life, that the line would not break on the line clip. These reels give you that confidence with the automatic clip system, releasing the line at the right moment and giving you every chance of landing a fish of a life time. With 8 + 1 ball bearing arrangement the reels are smooth and responsive. It only remains to guess how long a life these reels will have when they have to work hard but I would suggest that I'll have them for the rest of my fishing life! Worth the money. I recommend them.

Bought this reel for one reason only.. the ACS line clip.. i've only used it on 1 trip and the line did come out of the clip twice when casting up tight to a feature which is annoying as i lost 2 feeders because of it... as recommended i had the line clip pointing down when casting... maybe i'm doing something wrong but i don't think so as 98/100 casts were fine. no doubting the line comes out of the clip when a fish runs as it's supposed to and the front drag is absolutely first class as is the baitrunner. good value for 40 odd quid as comes with a single and a double handle, a shallow metal spool and a deep metal spool, the reel is nice and smooth but on the odd occasion the bale arm doesn't flip over until you move the spool round, my fishing buddy has one also and his is the same.. the jury is still out for me but i shall use it a few more times before i decide to keep it or move on to something else..Read full review

For all of my feeder fishing a dual handle reel is far easier to use than a single handle reel, no anti-reverse on & off, on & off. The auto clip system is brilliant, no fumbling around when a big fish makes a charge into open water. Free spool system is great for those small to medium Carp on multiple rod set-ups.
