Great phone, responsive, long battery life

I don't use this phone intensively but, I can notice that the battery has a long life. In previous phones, I had to turn my data connection off if I wanted it to last for a whole day; with this phone it's OK. I've used with Google Maps and GPS works perfectly. Screen is responsive and its resolution is great. Cameras doe also have good resolution it feels a bit slow, but I haven't played with all the settings yet. It has accepted a 64GB Micro SD card without trouble. The overall size is a bit big (screen), but it's thin and not much different from popular phones. I'm enjoying my phone and can definitely recommend it to professionals that require a reliable, well balanced and good value for money phone.

Upgrade in one way; devastating downgrade in others

I bought this as an 'upgrade' to the G3, which I had bought as a phone and for its calendaring app, but found it useful in all sorts of ways I had not envisaged, particularly for my job as an aerial and satellite dish installer, for which there are applications that combine a database of transmitters/satellites and show you onscreen where they are, using the camera. If you need to see whether a location has a clear view of a satellite or whether trees block it, this is invaluable and hard to do any other way (I have yet to find an inclinometer you can sight through). However, the G3 had two serious faults. The screen was too dim to see clearly outdoors even on an overcast day, and it usually failed to react to the swipe you are supposed to use to answer the phone, so I kept losing incoming calls, which was detrimental to my business and very frustrating. Reviews I had read all said the G4 was a worthy upgrade, so I bought one second hand. Firstly, the screen is supposed to be brighter than the G3 and indeed it is. I have not had so much problem using it outdoors, though it is early days yet. Secondly, it is a little larger. Not by much: it is about the same size without a case as the G3 was with one, but it feels more awkward in the pocket and I find I do not carry it around so much. (Now I miss calls because it's left in the van!) Nevertheless, it is no easier to type on and my fingers keep hitting the wrong letters on the virtual keyboard. It's also got more storage than the G3 so I haven't needed to insert an extra SD card -- yet, anyway. As a phone it is as good as or better than the G3. You can answer calls for a start! Although I am a bit deaf I can hear calls clearly in speakerphone mode, and it keeps my contacts and appointments in order and syncs up with my PC, so that is all grand. It even sounds pretty good playing music (for a phone), though nowhere as good as a Bluetooth speaker, of course. It does retain some of the quirks of its predecessor, such as the volume buttons that are wired up the wrong way round. When in lansdcape mode, pressing the left hand button moves the on-screen volume slider to the right and vice versa. Doesn't anyone at Motorola actually use these things? You would have thought they would have noticed by now. But the kicker is this: it has no compass or inclinometer! Rather than being an upgrade, it has omitted two of the most essential pieces of hardware, meaning that the thing now fails to work at all with my aerial and satellite apps. I am furious, and the journos that wrote those refiews without pointing out that it is in fact a downgrade should hang their heads in shame. You may, or course, not have the same needs that I do, but reflect that without a compass, it cannot point you in the correct direction when using Google Maps, which is a real nuisance when walking especially. So all in all it's OK for most people, but for me it fails to meet my needs as well as the G3 did. I shall have to replace it again -- and it won't be with a Mororola.

  • Awesome branded Android phone for the money

You will never find a phone with some cool hidden features from shaking it in various ways which gives you the same performance of a Samsung equivalent which costs 3 times the price. A++++

  • Moto G4

Brilliant, low cost handset but packed with features. The dual sim capability is so useful, and gives you many setting options. The screen is as good as you'll get anywhere for this price. It's a quick operator too. Shifting between screens in split seconds. All-in-one fantastic hi-spec at a low price!

  • Excellent mobile

The last few years I had Samsung note 2&3 and s5 , the battery life was very short, all the I had to make sure I have a charger nearby, and reception wasn't the best, I thought because of network, the Motorola does exactly the same as Samsung , now I have reception everywhere and the battery stays till the evening. Highly highly recommended!!!!

  • EXCELLENT

Splash proof, great screen, just the right size for me, full day battery life with lots of use, dual SIM, even the 2nd SIM is on 3G not like other phones where the 2nd only got 2G. Knows all LTE frequencies, Android 6, no unnecessary apps, perfect
