Any fan will already have their opinion on this album. When released it was a polarising work. Many fans felt it was a move too far from Bowie’s glam period. A risk to take a more soulful & funky direction I would agree, but surely stylistically & vocally this album is right up there.Classic artwork cover leads us into a set of superbly written songs with some amazing arrangements. A wonderful set of musicians help create a genuine soul sound. Bowie was rewarded with a No 1 US hit with Fame and appeared on the top black music TV show Soultrain , some achievement for a white artist. So take a chance and get down to Bowie’s groove....... Love Ya!
