NotesReissue. Three CD set. In early 1978, Frank Zappa played a string of dates between January and February at the famous Hammersmith Odeon in London, England. Hammersmith Odeon, first issued in conjunction with a special birthday event at The Roundhouse in London in 2010, contains performances from those shows. These recordings are famous for being the basis for the Sheik Yerbouti album. This album contains all alternate performances and highlights from the master show tapes.
Pretty good live album from a later Frank Zappa band. Lots of songs, I think it's 3 hours long, and a pretty good performance overall.
The band is tight and mixed a little far back with Zappa's vocal way out front. The band features Terry Bozzio, Patrick O'hearn, Tommy Mars, and Adrian Belew with some great guitar sounds and singing lead on a section of songs. These live show recordings were also used as the basic tracks for the Sheik Yerboutti album.
I would say this is a great bargain for Zappa fans but not really intended for newer fans. It is also all music, with no interview tracks or radio spots or the other oddities found on many fan releases.
