Quality item.
Needed to replace my years old Bradex charger so did a bit of research. Ctek seemed to be the way to go so ordered the MXS 5.0 and am not disappointed. Have used it to charge the battery on my XF - the stop/start stopped working after being stood during Covid. My last charger wouldn't put any charge in, but this one has. It's now on my bike keeping that topped up. The only thing I would say is that for the price it should come complete with the cigarette plug adaptor. Although remember this us only useful if your accessory socket is powered up without the ignition on, so that probably means most cars can't be charged this way. Easy to use
This is the second unit I have had. The first lasted about 12 years. I like CTEK as it offers me the opportunity to keep my mobile home charged just using the cigarette lighter as a charging point. It is safe to leave on without damaging the battery. It is rather expensive compared to other chargers, but then you get what you pay for. A brilliant product.
This is the second MXS 5.0 charger I've purchased and I reckon they are fantastic. I have one permanently connected to a classic car that I've owned for eleven years and it's still got the same battery that was on it when I bought it. It never fails to start even when left for long periods. This latest purchase was to try and revive a battery on another car that had been dead for about six years and I'm pleased to say that it has successfully been brought back to life using the 'recon' setting. It aborted the charging cycle a couple of times but upon resetting, eventually restored the battery to full charge. I cannot praise them enough - I even have a smaller Ctek permanently connected to a motorcycle and that too never fails to start.
