Terrified of her abusive ex-husband Dennis but powerless to escape his brutal grasp due to a paralyzing court ruling, Jocelyn determined to shield her children from his malevolent grasp even if it means breaking the law. Later, as the selfless Jim attempts to help Jocelyn and her kids escape to a distant town where they can start a new life, the police and a shady detective hired by Dennis threaten prevent their flight from harm.
