Telescopic Hedge Trimmer
I wish I had got one of these earlier. It is great for getting to the top of the higher hedges and shrubs in my garden and is very versatile. The motor unit is a little heavy but since I do not intend in using it extended for any great length of time, it s fine. I have the fixed version of this trimmer and find VonHaus pretty decent trimmers. The blades are excellent and the power is fine for getting through conifers and shrubs. Like any of these trimmers, I would be careful about trying them on heavy branches but then that goes without saying. All in all, I am very happy with it.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Heavy. Need to be strong. Good cutting power. Watch the cable! Go cordless?
I like the 20mm diameter branch cutting capacity. Mains connection provide steady power supply. Without the extension pole it is still heavy and will give you a good work out. I managed to cut through the cable on my first use. It will cost me £24 for a cable connector and wire stripper to fix it. My previous cordless hedge trimmer did not have this issue! The provided harness provides support for the heavy extended version. Exension pole is easy to put on and take off. Good planning is needed. Do all hedges without the extension pole first then attach extension pole to get to the parts you couldn't reach. Great value, does the job.
A bit on the heavy side when using the pole and could benefit from a better harness, but it really does the job. The neighbours have used it more then I have. Need to use an extension cable, but half the price of a battery operated one [they look the same price but you have to pay almost as much for the battery and they lack the power]. Very pleased so far
The tool is easy to assemble. It's not for the feint-hearted once it is extended and in use. It takes a little while to get used to the weight as well as to balance it properly. However, it cuts efficiently and is easily a match for my 2.5m leylandii hedges and so far I am very pleased with the trimmer. Versatile hedge clipper
I have a few small stretches of hedge to trim and some are quite high and awkward to get to. In the past I have used hand shears and struggled a bit so I thought I would give this a try. I don't actually think this saves any time by the time you have assembled it to the required length, found an extension lead, plugged it in etc. However having said that, it makes getting to the high and awkward hedges easier. The 600W motor makes it more powerful than some other electric hedge trimmers but despite this it will struggle to cut through anything other than this year's growth. The blades are sharp enough and make a clean cut. The adjustable extending pole makes cutting the high bits and tops easier. The down side is that it is heavy and prolonged use will make your arms ache. The motor is at the top of the extension pole so you are supporting that weight while cutting. Even without using the extension it becomes quite heavy after a short while. For small amounts of hedge or clipping a few bushes it's fine.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Refurbished

I love the way it all fits together so easily. It is easy to change the cut angle. The harness doesn’t really help, unless I’m not using it properly. did the job required of it, bit heavey maybe for people with limited strength
The Vonhaus 600W 2-1 pole hedge trimmer worked fine, though I found it a bit heavy when used fully extended and for more than 15 minutes, luckily I do not require to use it for long periods. I did like the fact that it can be used as a normal hedge trimmer & extended. the cutting blades cut the normal hedge growth but struggled with older "woody" growth, maybe to be expected. As it is an item for my own use maybe 4 or 5 times a year max, I would expect it to last many years, it being a 240V mains supplied unit I do not need to worry about battery life. great hedge trimmer.
first time using a trimmer like this, and it can take some getting use to after using a normal one. some of my hedges are quite awkward to reach and i got sick of trying to over reach and balance on ladders and nearly falling off, this makes one hell of a difference, if extends quite far, you can set it at different angles, you can take the extension off to use just like a normal trimmer, it comes with a strap to fasten round your upper body which you will need because it can be a very heavy item without using it, a nice long lead and plug also helps, you will need to mess around with it quite a bit, learning to get it just right, it can be fiddly but you do get use to it the more times you use it, i would rather do this than have an accident which i have come close to on many occasions, a great buy, glad i purchased it.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
