Great product if it comes used/pre-activated
Do your research before you purchase one of these. T-Mobile will say they do not activate these anymore, but if you push them they will. The alternative connects to your home internet and makes you liable for a search warrant if someone uses the other type of device negligently. T-Mobile’s QA/help wiki still shows how to set these up when new, and there is a form with a link to an insecure (ssl expired) website where you can add a NON-prepaid T-Mobile account to register the new repeater/cell-fi device.
However, if you’re lucky and rolling the dice, you should be able to get one of these used, registered to an old T-Mobile account. That means, it will work and repeat as a femtocell out of box! That’s great, but there is a caveat: your E911 location will be associated with the old address, so if you can’t tell the 911 responder your address they’ll send someone to the old E911 address, which is probably across the country and 2. You’re potentially violating FCC rules, but...that could be an overreach.
Anyway, this product works well, although it won’t perform miracles, you’ll need a decent signal wherever it is set up. If you open the case it does have female SMA ports for RX and TX antennas.
