This is the most effective way to update your PLB. Some say it's fine to keep your old batteries going. WARNING: Lithium batteries don't slowly drain, they STOP. You don't want to find out when you're floating in the water. Some say it's not the original part number. It IS the latest version of this part. McMurdo updated the part number in 2013 and it has been this new part number ever since (85-763-020A). Some say, "Take the case apart and replace the batteries yourself". Don't be ridiculous! This is a key piece of safety equipment, completely sealed and waterproof, sealed to precise ratings and designed to aid the PLB's floatation at sea. If this unit leaks due to a D.I.Y. job, the PLB will FAIL when you critically need it. It is a necessary evil, but still works out at a fraction of the price of replacing a like-for-like 48-hour PLB. The performance of the PLB remains the same as beforeRead full review

Coming from the United Kingdom shipping takes a little longer. But replacement arrived and installed. Tested good so I am ready to go.

Fast and easy way change the battery

This is a best buy for an expensive battery pack. The internal cells are AA Lithium, 7 off, and have their own expiry date of many years later, but they are 'de rated' for this emergency application. So don't worry if your existing pack is a few years out of date!
