  • Works as it should...

I sent my (now) 22 year old Seiko Kinetic in to Seiko after it was around 12 years old to get it 'fixed' as it wasn't retaining the charge. They told me they pretty much replace the innards, give it a good clean and charge me around £100 for the service. 10 years on and my watch is showing the same behaviour. Not having much charge stored if left for a week or less. Reluctant to pay another £100 (or more), I researched my options. It looked fairly straightforward to replace the battery that stores the generated charge myself, so I bought this Seiko 30235MY. Oh boy! This battery is working just as it should be. It is charging up and keeping it stored perfectly. But be aware....the screws inside that need to removed to do so are the tiniest sons of B.....s that have a mind of their own. So much so, one of them decided to disappear :-/ Luckily (so far) it went back together and is working great again. So even though I can't recommend the act of replacing it very highly, I do recommend the actual capacitor 100% :-)

  • Ticking along nicely!

My Seiko kinetic hasn't worked for at least 20 years and I was reluctant to have it serviced by a jeweller as they were quoting anywhere from 75 to 120 pounds to replace the cap! A little research on youtube persuaded me to replave it myself which is how I came to find this part on ebay. Part arrived and I was happy to see it was a genuine Sony part, I have replaced watch batteries in the past so got stuck in. Trickiest part was removing the kinetic rotor, much care is needed to prevent slipping and damaging the generator coils. All the screws are minute and easily lost. Anyway, I took my time and all went well, watch is now working perfectly and after wearing it for about 8 hours I left it on the side for about 15 hours and it's still running fine. So, result! I would strongly advise anyone taking this on to make sure they have the right tools. I have a Bergeon basic watch service kit and was very glad of it. You also need a suitable place to do the work and preferably a magnifying viewer.

  • Good Genuine Product

Good quality genuine product but fitting it is not easy if you are not a watch maker. Get some jewellers tweezers and watch a few you tube videos before you start.

  • Great Seiko Replacement

The Seiko replacement capacitor works perfectly and was great value for money compared to products from other outlets. Overall, very pleased with purchase. I would caution any purchasers to be aware of the minute size of the components and check you have the tools to do this if you are a DIYer. YouTube has videos of how to do this which are well watching.

  • Replacement Seiko Kinetic 5M63 Capacitor

Fitted my old Seiko Kinetic watch perfectly, although installation is a little frustrating as the tiny screws holding the capacitor in place are difficult to remove, easy to lose and fiddly to refit. Doing the job myself probably saved me over £100 and my old watch is now likely to continue running precisely accurately for at least another 10 years.

  • Watch working again!

Replaced existing cap in my 16 year old Seiko and watch working fine again. High level of charge straight away and I can see from evening and morning sweep check that cap is charging fine when worn.

  • A new life for my old Seiko Kinetic Watch

I thought my watch was finished after 12 years. Then with a little research I found this gem. Fitted it myself with a tutorial from the internet. A bit fiddly however job done and the watch is working again. Much cheaper than a new watch.

  • Once every 12 years

After 12 years constant use I had to replace this part. It is not an easy job but the kit includes all the parts needed, recommended highly.

  • Does the job

Can't speak for the quality, time will tell. Fiddly to fit, screws very small and elusive, but watch now seems to be holding charge as intended.
