With the VGB300, simply connect your VCR, DVD player, or camcorder to the external capture card and record your tapes directly to a digital video format using OBS software. VHS to Digital Conversion Kit -August VGB300 - Transfer VCR, Hi8, MiniDV or Camcorder Tapes to PC.
Have been looking for a low cost way of copying some HI 8 video camcorder footage from the 90's. Read all the reviews and stumbled upon the August VGB300. No drivers to install. Used OBS software which some may find complicated but if you're tech savvy and work out the settings and how to integrate it with your sound on your PC it's straight forward. Copied to my hard drive and there's very little difference to the source tape and you can always use editing software to enhance it a little if you wish. You can also use the dongle to capture from other sources like a VHS video but best to use the scart adapter for better quality pictures rather than just composite output. It can also be used to just copy audio if you have old cassette tapes you want to salvage. All in all, despite my initial scepticism that it would produce useful copies, it did just that. And it's not too expensive. I know many people seem to have problems getting these types of dongle to work successfully but for me it was no problem and I'm glad I bought it.
worked first time, follow the simple instructions and started converting my video archive to files. I used it with mini DV player, 8mm and hi 8 tapes. Only thing I changed was the audio delay for Hi 8 playback to reduce it to 270 from 470.
I use this product to capture video from old camera, image quality is good and everything works without any glitch. I use OBS studio, VGB300 was recognized and started to work immediately. Regards to designers.
