Gay-themed Australian drama based on Timothy Conigrave's memoir. The film follows the relationship of Conigrave (Ryan Corr) and his partner John (Craig Stott), who first met at their Catholic high school. With John the star captain of the school's football team and Tim an aspiring actor in the school play, the pair seem like an unlikely couple but continue their journey together through high school and university where they allow their love for each other to help them overcome the challenges being gay men in '80s Australia throws at them. However, one challenge proves too much for the pair after they are both diagnosed with HIV in 1985.

  • Very powerful film

This is a very powerful film. It shows the torment and hurtful comments gay people had to endure back in the day. I for one can understand what they went through. The pain and the reasons why they thought they thought they had to keep their lives and love quite. It is a little better now but even now there are still people who will torment and even harm you for being gay. I know from experience all about the pain we go through. It's not everyone some people want couldn't give a dam what you are those people are friends. Luckily my family are very good about it. I could go on and on about this subject but I will stop there. Buy this is a very truly well made film and largely true to life. This is a must see film for anyone who suffers from the hassle and upsets from being gay or even if you're not it is still worth watching.

  • A poignant reminder.

A poignant reminder of how HIV and aids ravaged the gay community and the mistakes made on the way in relationships and how the love won through it all when you stayed true to the one person even though the damage was done phtsically. I did feel the main characters character was very pushy and chancing his luck which ultimately brought about the demise of his partner and himself. Unfortunately the young gay community of today's world seem oblivious to what went on before and are repeating history. It doesn't matter if it's gay pride or straight arrogance. Ultimately someone pays a price.
