Debut studio album by the British rock band, fronted by former Pulp singer Jarvis Cocker. The band formed in late 2017, to perform at Sigur R¢s's NorÐur og NiÐur festival in Iceland. The group was 'conceived as a way of writing songs in collaboration with an audience'. They began recording their performances to assist their songwriting, until Geoff Barrow suggested the recordings could be used as the foundations of an album.

Reviews"It’s composed of recordings of multiple live shows Jarv Is… have played since 2017, when the offbeat Britpop band originally came together to play the Norður og Niður festival in Iceland.", "BEYOND THE PALE is seven tracks is timeless and timely genius from the finger-wagging Sheffield frontman, matching his lyrical wit to a series of fantastic arrangements, touching upon everything from Leonard Cohen documentaries to the lingering attractions of rave culture.", "Beyond the Pale's Songs Tackle Brilliantly Un-Rock’N’Roll Subjects...", 4 stars out of 5 -- "A cracking addition to the Cocker canon, bursting with that Pulp knack for nerdy melodrama and primed for the dancefloor.", "Cocker examined our cave-dwelling past, the curse of nostalgia and the detritus of broken lives on some of his deepest lyrics."
Additional InformationJarvis Cocker returns to the arty dance-rock that Pulp played in the years prior to their Brit-pop fame.
Considering the quality of this album, it's likely some of the 'not quite good enough for the album' material probably was good enough but hey, short and sweet is still more than welcome.
Thanks Jarvis, tell me another...
