Good attenuation, amplification seemed weak, A real bargain for the price.
Attenuation of loud noise was very good. The amplified ambient sound seemed OK indoors but not enough amplification for a noisy outdoor environment. The on-off-volume control seemed awkwardly placed but not a serious problem. The "pilot" light was a good feature to indicate power was on. lightweight, thin, but bad fit, and lower nrr than rated
Strong band pressure makes these uncomfortable.. Pads do not sit well over the ears and have to be manipulated to achieve some comfort. They are thin enough to make them function well while shooting, but the NRR rating does not appear to be as high as they say.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Lightweight comfortable with great features
just bought these for range shooting but they are great anywhere there is a noise level above 85dbs i also work at home in a very noisy garage with very loud equipment and they muffle the sound perfectly. i also like the manual volume control that way you can work and converse with others without even having to take them off so cool if you are in the market for some hearing protection i highlysuggestion you give these a try you won't be dissapointed.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Adjustable and lightweight.
These are the best shooting ear muffs I have found. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because like all of the others I have tried...they are hot and make you sweat as we live in hot state. They work real well. I don't like the loud noise when shooting and I had startedt a bad habit of flinching when I shot the heavier ammo. Great pair of ear muffs
Work great! I have used regular ear muffs and ear plugs that cost about as much for years and wish I had gotten these instead. No comparison. Great Product for the Price
I was skeptical when I first ordered my Caldwell Electronic Ear Protectors since the ones my husband has cost $60+. I took a chance and boy was I surprised! Not only do they take less battery power than my husbands pricy pair, but they work just as well! At the shooting range I could hear my husband speaking clearly, (I can adjust the volume also)and when I comes my time to shoot, the Caldwell Ear Protectors muffled the sounds of my pistol very well. As soon as I stopped firing, the regular volume returned quickly, it doesn't lag on either level. Works like a charm! One tip, when first received it, the ear cups fit pretty tightly, not too bad but when I tried to remove them I 'bout slapped my nose off with one of the ear cups. Make sure to grip them firmly with both hands while putting them on and removing them. Also, I actually placed mine open across a small box to "break them in a little". If you choose to do this, don't stretch them too much, you will want them to fit snuggly at the range, etc. The only "negative" i can come up with is the design isn't as sleek as my husband's pricy pair(the outside design of his flip the other direction) but I dont mind looking a lil' elfish since they work so great!:-) I would highly recommend the Caldwell Electronic Ear Protectors.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

The Caldwell emax hearing protectors worked perfectly at my local range . They knocked out noise, sound over 85db , but allowed me to hear better than normal below 85db .
