  • Top 100 Books in America

Thanks to my local PBS station for introducing me to the top 100 books in America which gave me a great to read list. Bless Me Ultima was one of them. The story follows a young Hispanic boy as he struggles with his belief in God while also dealing with a pagan god and being best friends with Ultima an herbal healer who does more than heal. Family struggles and good verses evil. Highly recommend this book.

  • Rich, charming, engaging....

Rudolfo Anaya's Bless Me, Ultima has been reissued in this hardback edition on the 50th anniversary of the first printing. This is one of my all time favorites books. A beautifully written book reflecting the rich cultures of New Mexico and Mexico through the eyes of a boy in a coming of age story. I was first introduced to this book in an exceptionally fine college level literature course. Highly recommended.
