A compelling page-turner.
Each of Alex Gray's books is better than the last. Her characters become more "fleshed out" and compelling. I was very moved by the hitman who feels real remorse for his past actions and comes to believe that even he can be forgiven by God. Great twist in the tale, when we are sure that he's going to shoot Lorimer. And the character of "the Big Man" is well imagined, striking fear into the other prison inmates, compelling them to do his bidding.
