Set in 1903, TRACKER is a tense manhunt thriller in which Arjan (Ray Winstone, The Departed, sex&drugs&rock&roll), a guerrilla survivor of the South African Boer War, lands in colonial New Zealand and is promised a bounty to capture Kereama (Temuera Morrison, Once Were Warriors, Six Days Seven Nights), a Maori seafarer accused of killing a soldier. What should be a simple job for Arjan, a master tracker, turns into a gripping and dangerous game of cat and mouse as Kereama repeatedly escapes and is recaptured, all the while insisting on his innocence. As each gains and loses the upper hand, they gradually get to know and respect each other. In an emotional and high-risk showdown, their tenuous bond is tested in the face of a military posse.

A very nice movie. Well played by Winston and Morrison. If for nothing else the scenery was worth it alone. ;-) Trout Country. I was disappointed to find that Morrison, A Lead Character. Was left until late in the Credits. White Black or indifferent he along with Ray Winston were the main contenders Morrison is the quarry Winston the Tracker both characters were were what the movie is about. I do not quibble over the lead Title but both deserved to head the list. RW

An intense, engaging moral dilemna.
This film will grab and hold your attention from start to finish. Ray Winstone's acting is intense, an he is superb as the troubled tracker. The New Zealand setting is breathlessly beautiful though harsh. The photography is masterful. This is a thinking man's thriller, as the plot centers itself on a moral dilemna from the tracker's past. One of my all time favourite films.
