Wonderful large format book with great photographs
Describes the incredible difficulties that had to be overcome by construction teams laying a rail track through a hostile desert environment. On the First World War, it relates the exploits of Lawrence of Arabia, but does not neglect the part played by other combatants. A friend of mine has the original version and I would say this new edition is even better. Extremely good value for a book of such quality these days. Would recommend it for anyone interested in steam railways or Lawrence of Arabia.
