A good quality replacement PSU for the notorious commodore brick of death.
A really good buy for my c64, to replace my ageing original commodore PSU, as it has built in voltage protection. The old PSUs are notorious for failing and causing serious damage to the c64 due to high voltages. I measured the voltages at the main chips on the motherboard, under load, and found them to be 5.06Volts, which is very near to the desired 5.00 volts. The PSU also has a power switch which the original commodore PSU does not. The PSU also runs cool, which is nice. The only negative issue was that this psu is a switching type and caused a minor interference problem on my HDTV, in that I had a faint moving horizontal bar on my hdtv. However electroware were very helpful when i contacted them and solved this minor issue by refunding the small cost of a high quality video cable which fixed the problem. Excellent C64 PSU replacement
This a well built and solid PSU that works perfectly. Just plugs in like your original C64 PSU , the only difference is this also has a power switch on the supply itself. This is very useful as it saves you using the power switch on the C64 which has been known to be a problem due to it breaking or failing over time. Just what my old Commodores needed
I discovered this after reading that the most likely cause of faults in old Vic 20s and Commodore 64s is a faulty power supply. These old systems are only going to get more fragile and difficult to repair so it's worth treating them to a new, safe power supply. This has no trasformer buzz, runs cool and has a power switch to save wear and tear on the C64 switch. I am always wary of running very old power adaptors for long periods of time (I have had two original PSUs fail) so this is ideal. Well built power supply.
I got this to replace an ageing c64 power supply. As the original power supply’s can supply more voltage than needed and blow your c64 ram chips. This runs cool and the only problem I had at first was interference on the tv.
