Good update software, but take your time!
- Software update works well, and after updating the data, everything is OK. Your own previous navigation addresses are safeguarded, a good thing! - The process requires A LOT of time. After entering the DVD, at least an hour passed without apparent activity ( but there was, in the background, the system was quietly copying the data). No risk of speeding with this one! My navigation system went repeatedly to sleep, touching the on/off button returned the progress bar. In total, between 2 and 3 hours. I had already done a similar update 2 years ago, so I was not fully unprepared. Nevertheless, it remains a somewhat unsettling process. Must have been the same Volkswagen programmer who worked on the Dieselgate software project I guess. - You don't need to let your engine run, this update consumes little battery charge, but your ignition key must remain in the contact. - Instructions are only in English, and could be clearer. There is no guidance on the use of the second, "Firmware update V5238" CD. Only when I tried loading it, did it indicate that it was a 2012 version; my car's system software was more recent, and it took some trouble to cancel the downgrade. - In short: (Very) OK if you know what you're doing, not for the technically ignorant.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Great to finally get the maps on my Passat updated. VW were rather unhelpful. This did the job for a reasonable price. Great product. Does exactly what it says on the tin. Install was easy and the seller provides online email support for any queries you have. The package comes as a firmware update CD to allow update to latest version, an SD card with MS DOS to allow loading of the latest maps version off an additional CD. My SD card reader was not working. Loaded the firmware update CD provided and the SD card reader immediately worked. Uploaded the maps seamlessly. Whole process took around an hour. Firmware and map both work
Updating the FW was a nervous step for me but what helped a lot was that when I had previously asked the seller a question he had responded very quickly and positively, with an offer to help if I had any further concerns/questions. When my unit would not read the DVD disc (the disc was OK, my PC could read it fine) the seller provided me an alternative solution which worked well. I now have the latest FW and the latest map (currently V15, 2018) installed on my unit and everything works as it should. Worked Perfectly.
Arrived very quickly, well packaged and presented. The firmware update worked flawlessly but the maps were a bit tricky, the instructions say that they should be installed with the engine off and that it would take 1-3 hours.
