Good update software, but take your time!
- Software update works well, and after updating the data, everything is OK. Your own previous navigation addresses are safeguarded, a good thing!
- The process requires A LOT of time. After entering the DVD, at least an hour passed without apparent activity ( but there was, in the background, the system was quietly copying the data). No risk of speeding with this one! My navigation system went repeatedly to sleep, touching the on/off button returned the progress bar. In total, between 2 and 3 hours. I had already done a similar update 2 years ago, so I was not fully unprepared. Nevertheless, it remains a somewhat unsettling process. Must have been the same Volkswagen programmer who worked on the Dieselgate software project I guess.
- You don't need to let your engine run, this update consumes little battery charge, but your ignition key must remain in the contact.
- Instructions are only in English, and could be clearer. There is no guidance on the use of the second, "Firmware update V5238" CD. Only when I tried loading it, did it indicate that it was a 2012 version; my car's system software was more recent, and it took some trouble to cancel the downgrade.
- In short: (Very) OK if you know what you're doing, not for the technically ignorant.
