The Carbon Copy Deluxe Analog Delay showers you with new features to refine the warm, organic repeats of the best-selling analog delay on the market. With an extended delay time - now up to 1.2 seconds - and Tap Tempo function, you have more control over the repeats than ever. The Tap Division feature with the easy to use display gives you 4 different beat divisions - dotted eighths, eighths, triplets and sixteenths. On the tonal side, the Carbon Copy Deluxe lets you choose between the original dark, smooth repeats and the vibrant articulation of the Bright version—at the touch of a button. To give the repeats additional character and texture you can press the Mod button. With the Carbon Copy Deluxe, speed and width controls are freely accessible on the top of the pedal so that you can eas.
The MXR Carbon Copy Deluxe has freaked my head. I’ve been playing guitars for the best part of 40 years. Without question, this is one of the absolute best sounding delays.
Before buying, you need to do some research: analogue (or analog if you’re not from the UK) delay pedals produce a different sounding repeat compared to their digital cousins. You won’t get pristine sounding infinite repeats with analogue. Each repeat decays and gets murkier, which is a quality of the Bucket Brigade chips that I love.
The CC Deluxe has a “Bright” mode to help combat the darkening of the repeats, but the decay remains.
I absolutely love the delays that the MXR Carbon Copy Deluxe produces. Paired with a separate momentary switch to toggle between paramaters (I have it set up to switch between normal and bright), it ‘s a dream of a pedal.
My only gripe is that the battery cover protrudes too far from the unit’s base. Not a problem if it won’t be mounted on a pedalboard. Annoying if it will be.
High quality build. This is a delay pedal with switchable modulation to give an optional added chorus effect. Also has a tap delay function if you want to synchronize delays with tempo of music. Some might prefer separate delay and chorus pedals, however, this is a good combined unit, though it might be less costly to buy two cheaper units.
