This car current tester is a useful piece of kit that earned its keep in minutes when my motorhome electrics went wrong.
The idea is that it detects and measures the level of current flowing through a circuit and you assess if the loading on that circuit is high, low or as it should be.
You remove a blade fuse from the circuit and place it into the side of the interface that fits (you get three - standard and mini blade connectors and an alligator clip interface.) You need to put the right value fuse in in case the circuit blows.
Place the interface into the circuit and read the current on the display. You then need to calculate what that current should be based on what is connected to the circuit and if the units are switched on or not. It took minutes to find I had an excessive current drain because a relay had shorted.
However you do need to remember the unit is not an automated circuit tester, it relies on your skill and competence to do the job.
In short well worth the 60 quid it cost, although I may never need it again it will stay in my van toolbox.
