Excellant product, does exactly what it says!
Ordered this product because we have 2 male cats, 1 female cat and one dog. The male cats and the dog are always eating the female cat's food. She is my spoiled little girl. One male cat is on a special diet and the other eats way too much. The dog should be eating his own food. They are all sweet but it was a big challenge trying to manage all the feeding. I saw an add for the Sureflap Surefeed Microchip Feeder at my vet's office. Went online, read the reviews and thought I would try it out. I am 100% satisfied! It was simple to set up, my female cat learned how to use it in literally one hour and I did not even have to use the training mode! One of the other cats saw the food through the door but could not get the door to open. I highly recommend this product to anyone who has a similar challenge feeding their cats. The only negative is that it did not come with an owners manual but I was able to download one online. No big deal. Fatally flawed
It works great insofar as only opening for the assigned cat. Unfortunately, if another cat nudges his way in, it remains open, even if the assigned cat leaves. Apparently once it's open, it simply detects the motion/presence of a cat instead of continuing to register the specific presence of the correct microchip. Thus, the overweight cat I was trying to prevent from eating still manages to gobble up all of the underweight cat's food. Easy for humans and cats; great way to ensure a pet only eats their own food
We have a few cats on different prescription diets, as well as two cats who would happily devour everyone else's food. These feeder help ensure that each cat can only get their own food, both in type and amount. It isn't perfect, as it's possible for another cat to stick their head in once the cat it is cued to it opens the feeder, but it is better than any other option we have found. Best thing since sliced bread!
We have 4 cats. Why?...Am not sure...ask Wifey on that one. Haaaa! Regardless, 3 are mooches and 2 are on special diets so you can imagine what a cluster@#$k that can turn into at chow time. These bowls turn that badness into "Ha Haaaa...I am watching you try to mooch and you are failing miserably". Well worth the $$$! Haven't failed once, batteries last surprisingly long. smart cat can cheat it
Works almost as advertized, but here's a catch: there's a separate detector for the chip's proximity and a separate detector for "something in the feeder frame". For my two cats it works this way: the authorized cat eats her food, then sits right next to the feeder and starts washing. This is when the unauthorized cat comes in, puts her head into the frame and the feeder goes "oh, auth chip is nearby and someone tries to eat - OPEN THE GATE!" So I had to add some stuff around the feeder to avoid this situation. Still, it made my entire life onw that cat doesn't have to wake me day and night asking for the next portion of food.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Expensive, but works well. The divided bowl is inconvenient for cleaning.
At the time I bought this, it was the only available product that provides chip-based controlled access to cat food, and that's what I needed. It works perfectly. We have 2 cats, each of which are on different special diets. We bought 2 of these, set each one to read only one cat's chip, and it solved the problem of them getting into each other's food. However the included divided bowl (not microwave or dishwasher safe) is far less convenient that the two half-bowls that are available as a separate purchase. For our typical use, we use the divided bowls, with wet food on one side and dry food on the other. Which means having to empty the remaining dry food, washing the remaining wet food from the bowl, then replacing the dry food every feeding.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
