Ronseal DTM Stormy Grey Gloss - Any Good?
As I write on 9th July 2023 this is my second tin of this paint and in the 750 ml size tin. I am using it to paint outdoor metal including front gate, clothes poles, shed roof, garden bench. In texture this paint is so thick that it's more like an oil based product than water based. It stirs easily and evenly and goes on really well with excellent coverage even on the first application (I am following the makers recommendation and applying three coats). I find that (likely because of its 'film thickness') the paint does not go as far as I had thought, hence why I have purchased this second tin, and maybe another tin soon, who knows? Another factor is that in hot sunny weather as we are experiencing in the UK July '23, this paint starts thickening in the tin and on the paint brush. The paint can then dry somewhat on the brush making the brush 'cloggy'. This in turn makes cleaning the brush more difficult and I used a hair comb to facilitate the brush cleaning. In summary thus far, and it's longevity is to be discovered over the coming years (15 years duration, I am not so sure about that one), I recommend this product. Having said that I do wish the makers would provide a greater number of colour choices.
