I would highly recommend Bill and Bill on his Own.
These hard-to-find movies are both entertaining and thought provoking. Micky Rooney portrays a man who has lived his life in an institution for persons with special needs and has suffered through and witnessed abuse there, but has been released into the community. He is having difficulty adjusting to living in the community, but has a social worker who is trying to help him. He meets a young couple (filmmaker) who becomes interested in him and creates a short film and he becomes part of their life. I am a special education teacher, and Micky Rooney plays a very convincing man with special needs. I owned these on VHS and finally bought them on DVD.
