elegant, simple design; shallow learning curve to operate
I've owned my (secondhand) SodaStream Fizzi for 10 days or so now, and after some initial trial and error, it's producing perfect, fizzy carbonated water. I love that the device is small and doesn't use any electric power.
I would caution others not to expect it to work perfectly right out of the box. I had to play around with the water level in the SodaStream bottle (I had to go above the max water line marked on the bottle; otherwise the CO2 was coming out above the water line and not making the water fizzy). I also had to experiment with the number of times to push the button and how long to press it each time. I think that when the CO2 canister is almost full and again when it's almost empty, the amount of carbonation you get from each press of the button isn't uniform and you may need to press the button more than the recommended maximum 5 times or else your water will remain flat. Also, I recommend using it on a kitchen counter or other easily wipeable surface, because a bit of water tends to splash out when the CO2 shoots into the bottle. But now that I understand its quirks, my SodaStream is creating all of the club soda I'll ever need.
I also bought the SodaStream cherry cola drink mix and made some very tasty (and bubbly) cherry cola. Next, I'm going to search for some recipes online to make cola, ginger ale, tonic water, root beer etc. from scratch. Should be fun!
