I bought this because I was looking for these things: a Chinese phone; no notches or other disfigurements; a triple camera with autofocus on all three; good performance; not too expensive. The CPH 1921 meets those requirements and although ageing by phone standards, remains entirely usable in 2022. Smooth, fast performance; sips battery, which easily lasts all day with plenty to spare; fast fingerprint sensor; a wonderful camera array; highly customisable ColorOS, an interesting variant of stock Android. It seems to me to be of flagship quality. At the moment I'm using it alongside my iPhone SE 2020.
I am trying several ports of Gcam to bring the camera performance up to Pixel standards as far as possible, but there are many, and probably no perfect ones. ColorOS 7.1/Android 10, which the phone is running, enables video shooting on all three cameras, rather than just the main one.
I was hoping for more Oppo system apps, but apparently these are missing from European versions for some legal reason. I have no intention of updating the firmware beyond 7.1, since on that everything works well.
The Chinese phones tend to have their own way of doing things. You are encouraged to close apps and optimise phone performance. I'm not used to this on Androids, and some users would argue against it, but I'm going along with it.
I'm still getting used to the phone and am enjoying it immensely. :)
Beautiful design and great colour too, seems quite snappy despite not having the fastest processor out there. 8gb ram is enough for most daily activities and the camera is also rather good, better than the Poco flagship phones I've had in the past. It's my first experience with this brand and I'm sure not the last. I'm quite keen to try the new N2 flip that was just released last month but at £850 I will wait until it comes down a bit in price!
Great handset. Good screen size and no annoying hole for front camera as it pops up fron the top of the phone, great feature. Only slight downside is the screen isn't particularly bright in direct sunlight but I'm used to top of the range samsung products and they're probably the outliers so some may not notice.
