Monte Cassino. MDF Replica of this famous Benedictine Abbey. Bombed heavily in WW2 to oust the Fallshirmjager holding the Gustav line for Hitler. The model itself is a reduced version of the original as not all the buildings are included and some upper walkways are omitted. I'm an experienced Modeller but had difficulty following the instructions as parts were not clearly numbered and the instruction sheet was somewhat vague. It took me two days to assemble using PVA glue and UHU glue. I have painted the walls with a Matt white wash and the roofing with a Matt reddish brown. I have mounted the whole building on a 2 ft x 2 ft Stiff card base and built the hill around it adding trees, green flock etc. Looks OK so far as It's not quite finished. Both tanks are easy-assemble kits, Sherman and Stug. Figures also are very well detailed,German Paras and Polish Infantry who took the Abbey after heavy losses. Would like to see Italeri produce something similar of Colditz castle, anyway, overall It is a decent model but requires patience but a little too pricy for what it is. ( 75 Quid).Read full review
