  • Visually Magnificent

Reducing the narrative of such a complex tale into a handful of robust - and very easy to follow - set pieces, this production allows us to focus on the creator and his creation. As the 'creature's' sad and undeserved fate plays out, Frankenstein is himself haunted by equal misfortune. A moment of messianic experiment rewards him with the deaths of those he loves and an unavoidable nemesis. The sets are MAGNIFICENT. The atmosphere is somber, punctuated with brief moments of happiness, each one resolved with a punishment of ego. The choreography is thrilling and perfectly blended to the plot - which it serves in an elegant rush of colour and precision. This production is tasteful, I'd say 'gothic-lite', but still recognizably Mary Shelley's infamous classic. I really think that SHE would have enjoyed it.
