New songs played live.
Richard Thompson wrote an album's worth of new songs and instead of releasing a normal studio album, he and his band played all the material live to audiences in the USA and that's this live album (with occasional audience applause). Great songs and excellent performances. The bonus disc (if you choose the deluxe edition) is made up of studio demos of these new songs (just RT on them).
