Having bought a similar kit to this a few years ago for myselfI i was surprised to see further inclusion of another back extractor tool and small vice. This combined with the spring bars is exactly what i would get for myself if i were to buy one now as this was purchased for a gift. Over the years I have saved the cost of a kit many times over although remember to know your limits as a novice and if a back proves too difficult to remove then take it to a jewellers.

Expected it to be a bit better made even though its pretty cheap. Theirs quite a lot of free play at the bit holders so you have to be very careful when using it. Its a bit fiddly to adjust correctly because of the free play. But once you have taken care to ensure its adjusted correctly it does the job intended. Good selection of bits for different watch backs. I gave yes to recommended with reservation, you have to be careful and take your time or you could damage the back. If you're a bit clumsy or large hands, leave alone. Wasn't sure to give it a good value rating as its not the best quality or engineered that well, BUT its cheap so I did , what do you expect for the price. I had to give no for the quality because of the free play issues which makes it fiddly to use. If it was engineered better it would get a yes to the quality, but this may make it more expensive.Read full review

Would I buy this is I was a watchmaker, probably not but for me its perfect. I just want to be able to change the batteries on the family watches myself rather that use a jeweller. Better than I expected and came a day early. Took the back of my watch without scratching in a few minutes straight out of the box. Very happy with my purchase and delivered by Royal Mail (reliable) its a no brainer. One change of battery more than paid for the purchase compared to getting our watch shop to do it.

As there are many differnt eatch sizes, inevitably there are several different bits that fit into the tool to use on a watch. Choosing the right one is a bit trticky as they are not precise fits depending on the watch, but you also have to find three alike from the set. Once you have found the right bits, you then have to adjust the tool to fit the watch. This means setting two screws in the correct position - there is no way of locking them so the tool can quickly go out of adjustment. Does the job if you are patient.

Thought I would start replacing my family's watch batteries, saw this tool on ebay and purchased it. Brilliant piece of kit, I was very impressed with how easy it was to use.
