  • It might, and has, given the impression it is a primer for those pursuing an ATO.

The purpose of this book is sometimes misconstrued. I noted one commentary where a fledgling ATP disparaged it as “dated”. While that is certainly true of the original premise comparing piston-powered transports to the then emerging line of large jet transports, the real value is in the author’s description of transport category jet certification standards. A terrific addition to any seasoned transport category jet professional’s reference library interested in how standards & performance criteria are arrived at. It is as applicable today as it was when the 747 was certified nearly 50 years ago.

  • Excellent book for pilots transitioning to jets.

This book is a must for any pilot transitioning to jets. It is from the 70s, but much of what the author describes is still valid today. Highly recommended reading.
