The author, Henry Bender, has written a compelling history of a little known narrow gauge railroad that operated along the far western edge of Colorado and into eastern Utah. The unique product that this railroad carried was gilsonite, a rare form of solid asphalt. Steep grades, sharp curves, beautiful scenery, and one-of-a-kind locomotives are joy to read about. Great writing and excellent photography.
I bought this book for a friend, because I already have my own copy. For anyone interested in the history of the Gilsonite railroad, I highly recommend this book!
