  • Great bit of kit, which has transformed the car at a cost effective price.

Bought this kit after looking at several others and weighing up the costs. It includes everything needed and unlike the experiences of some other users I found the drill bit worked perfectly. The inner sleeve metal is relatively soft and by keeping a bit of pressure on the drill and rocking it very slightly from side to side it very quickly cut away the relevant part of the metal so it could be hammered out. Just be mindful the bits of metal cut away can be very sharp. The removal of the plastic inner sleeve was easily achieved with a stanley knife and came out virtually whole. Fitted the new sleeve with no problems at all, just needs two spanners or sockets to pull it in tight. The only slight difficulty I had was putting the shaft back into the gearbox but did find a short explanantion with photos on one of the forums, explaining how to initially insert it a quarter turn to the right and then rotating it back to the 12 o'clock position. The gear linkage cables just pop off with applied pressure and likewise when re-fitting. All in all it took about an hour to complete and the gearshift is now transformed. Before I was struggling to get it into reverse and first, but it now just moves in as if new. Overall the kit did exactly as advertised and has made the car a pleasure to drive again. Videos and explanation sheets were very useful. The only one small issue i would probably ask for more detail on is in relation to locking the gearshaft in place with a drill bit or similiar. It doesn't show this clearly on the sheets. In the end I didn't do it when taking it out, however it does become clear where the drill bit needs to go to keep it from moving when working on it i.e. lining up two small holes. This is however a small point and doesn't detract from the kit. I fitted this to a Sabb 9-3 1.9TiD, 2008 - this isn't listed as compatible on the website however fitted perfectly.

  • Speedy delivery. Once again sorted out appeared to be a duff gearbox. Easy fix with good instructions

Second kit I’ve had from X8R. Both times has turned something naff into as a good as new gearbox. Easy fix with good instructions and an easy to follow u-tube video. Anybody with a basic tool kit and a little confidence can undertake this improvement. Would highly recommend

  • Easy Job

Gear Turret is located below the battery box, remove battery box and remove as per online instructions. One important point to note not in the instructions is that the gear tower is difficult to get past the wiring loom and on removal, I inadvertently moved one of the gear selector forks out of the neutral removal position. With the kit installed, easy job (my electric drill was a bit fast and burnt out the supplied countersink tool however not before I removed the original insert). On reassembly, I found it impossible to refit the gear turret until I found an obscure forum on the internet where there was a solution. Using a screwdriver to align the selector forks I easily installed the gear tower. Now works perfectly. Gear change now restored to new.

  • Stunning Quality Gearbox Linkage Fix - Drives Like a New Car!

Fantastic product, did the repair on a Saab 2.8 V6 Turbo Aero. Very fiddly to remove the turret on this vehicle, had to seek advice from another forum, but it is possible with patience! My only criticism is that the "drill bit" is a countersunk piece, I had to use a mains drill and drilling oil on a slow speed as the factory bushing is very tough. In the end, I assisted the old bush removal by using a centre punch to push in top rim of the bush that needs removing. Once it's out, the modification is very simple. The quality is superb, and has restored the gearbox from almost an unusable state to as new. A new knob and leather has completed the refurb. Top class product and amazing value!

  • Great bit of kit

Great kit. Comprehensive instructions. This took me an hour on a vector diesel. Now then, the only thing that might help a slightly less mechanically minded person is turret removal guidelines as well. But with the range of applications that may not be doable. I will say,on this one, remove the battery, slide the side casing off and out of the way, and wih the aid of 2 extension bars and a 10mm socket you can reach the 3 retaining bolts. They are an e10 type but a GOOD 10mm will remove them. Use a 5mm drill bit to lock the turret in neutral when removing it. Don't forget to remove the sensor as well. You CAN get it out without removing the battery tray but expect to swear a lot. Getting it back in should be a little easier. Great product. Highly recommended. :)

  • Pit stop Scott garage Plymouth

This is a great bit of kit, had a customer come into my garage complaining about real stiff gear change and he had it diagnosed from another garage saying his sabb needs a new gearbox, I was not convinced with this so set out to diagnose it myself, after looking over the gear linkage found it was jamming up so did some research and found this company and this kit worked spot on, something so simple and such a good price and the quality is second to none. • Made car drivable again

The gearshift was so bad sometimes we could only select reverse after switching off the engine. I'd tried lube before I found this kit but it didn't really help. This kit was easy to fit and transformed the gear change back to better than it has ever been in the 28000 miles.

  • Fantastic kit, anybody could fix the stiff gear using it.

It really worked. My 1st and 3rd gear were a pain to engage. After fitting this part it works perfectly. Came on the next day. The video could be a bit better as the drilling part takes good 10 minutes to do. I did manage to lock the gear tower with the 4mm drill bit. But is really necessary to do it. I refitted without it. You can only fit it back on the right position. Be aware that you will need a torx tool to remove the tower. Well done for these chaps coming up with the ingenious solution.

  • Fantastic, easy repair kit.

Had the usual issue with stiff gear changes, and struggling to get into gear. Google and youtube came up with this repair solution. Watched the recommended video, really easy to fix, great instruction, good build quality definitely recommend this product. 👍🏻

  • What ever Saab owner will need at some point

Vale for money. Only takes about 45 minutes to do. Easy fix for a great result. Saved £300+ on what the garage wanted to do it. All you need is a drill, spanner and screw driver. Job done. Made changing gear feel like driving a new car. Brilliant.
