One of the top value phones ever released.
Probably best value phone in the market in quite a while, and probably for another quite a while. Using HTC phones from the very beginning, went thru most of models over the years. This is my second one HTC U11. As using around 4-5 phones at a time for different businesses and private. U11 is STILL ultra fast, so all the tasks are flying. Great GPU too. Price/ value, is probably nr. 1 phone for few years, and likely it will still remain, for quite a while, with price tag of £180/ $200. Lowest was £160 at some point. That makes it absolutely unbeatable against any other phone, especially new ones, including HTC 12, which are 50%-100% faster, at cost of 200%-600%. Since U11 is ultra fast, for majority of people doesn't make any difference to have new phone, which is bit faster and multiple times price tag.
So. Camera is still considered at one of the top cameras in phones ever released. Which is surprising after that many years. CPU/ GPU very fast. Ram more than sufficient. Running tons of apps all the time, never hit anywhere near capacity.
Onboard memory card 64GB. Minus system. Is ultra fast. Tests show 500mb/s read, and 150mb/s write. How true is that, it's pretty much impossible to measure, as there is no way to make real life copy files with such speed, and no way to disable write cache. 64GB should be enough for everybody for most of the things. Apps/ audio/ movies. However NOT for recording LONG videos. Low compression with 4k makes HUUUUGE files. But. Who is using phone to make long 4k videos, or just full hd long videos.
Camera absolutely fantastic with OPTICAL stabiliser. Means, light shaking completely removed. Strong shakes reduced heavily. Crisp, sharp colours.. Video quality varies between modes hd/ 4k/ 30fps/ 60fps/ 120fps.
Now the minuses.
Phone I received is from newer of old lines, means it is slightly poorer version, than originals at beginning, which were way more expensive.
Means. Battery. In my model is 2/3 capacity around 2200mAh instead of 3000mAh. Tested with different meters, multiple times, both phone and external.
Now comes to question, whether it's designed lower capacity or DAMAGED cell in my particular phone.
Or just software error which is very common.
However phone switches off prematurely in cold temperatures <10C. Solution. Warming up with smallest power bank, within minutes heats up the battery and %. Second solution, keeping light power drain, to keep battery warm. Will last easily whole day.
Other U11 behaved similarly in cold, however lasted much longer than just capacity difference.
Battery improved with extensive formatting - full charge/ discharge, slow charge/ fast charge. Calibration by software didn't seem to do anything, thus likely software error.
Other minuses - due to edge sense, weakest phone in the market. With glass back, it's ultra easy to damage the phone. Not suitable for heavy work environment/ back pocket/ front pocket jeans.
Slow wifi/ usb transfer. 5mb/s on large files/ terrible on small files. Only solution sd card into port and copy. Lot of hassle and sim/ sd card slot is very fragile and will brake easily with regular plug in and out.
Highly recommended phone.
