An Israeli archaeologist (Olivia Williams) discovers a skeleton in a part of Jerusalem (Palestinian part), a priest sent by the Vatican (A. Banderas) has to judge if a crucified body is a well known figure of the Bible, and if that is the case, could be "dangerous" for the Catholic to reveal the truth about this "body". When Matt Gutierrez (A. Banderas) share his views with local Father Lavelle (Derek Jacobi) and when he visits the "tomb" Father Lavelle begin to doubt of his belief. Well filmed in Israel you may appreciate some views of the airport of Tel-Aviv, streets of Jerusalem. Also filmed in Germany and USA.

What can I say about this film ? I'd watch Antonio Banderas stand on a street corner immobile, and be in a state of ecstasy. I can see no chemistry between his character and his female co-star, it's an interesting film as I recognised a few areas of Jerusalem. Antonio also gets his shirt off. What more could an old gal like me ask for ? A cat may look at a king, as the saying goes.
i saw this film recently on the tv and enjoyed is so much that i deceided to buy it - icouldn`t find it on the high street but was very pleased to purchase it via e-bay. it`s a great film - a complex and thought provoking subject matter and the actors in it are excellent. Derek Jacobi is a firm favorite ever since i saw him as Hamlet years ago and Antonio Banderas gives one of his best performances. Very exciting thriller with a twist to the ending. I enjoyed it immensely.Recommended.
with the da vinci culture this is a very thought provoking film. Very believeable good film all round. I first saw this several years ago and have been hunting it down ever since. Am glad to say it is in my collection
I bought it because it looked like a good film but I have to be honest and say it was a bit lacking.
