PIXOTE is director Hector Babenco's award-winning 1980 Brazilian film about one boy's struggle to survive the terrors of street life in Sao Paolo. The character of Pixote was played by poor child actor Fernando Ramos da Silva, selected from 1300 potential other boys to play the lead, and who was to earn great fame and fortune. But tragically he was later murdered by the police. This biopic tells the awful truth, follows the terrible grim events leading up to that fateful real-life killing.

Treat this film as a documentary.
In 1980 Fernando Ramos da Silva was chosen to play the leading role in the film `Pixote`. This film documents the time after making the film `Pixote` Unable to get further acting work he ended back on the street in a life of petty crime only to have his life abruptly ended in rather a nasty ending. It is a great pity that Hector Babenco did not have a hand in making this film as it is nothing like the standard of the first film which had some flaws insomuch it was a little bit too gritty. On the subject of Hector Babenco look at another film he made `At play in the fields of the lord I found this more to my taste but it is differ cult to get the last copy I got was from the Spanish market with English subtitles. This particular film `Who killed Pixote` is region 2 and with English subtitles. .
