Doesn’t work efficiently, control dial almost invisible

Great little toaster but.....
The toaster looks good and works fine, but bought an ordinary sliced loaf and the slices don’t fit, loaded either straight or sideways so about 4cm remains untoasted. To get good toasting you have to stop and turn slice upside down!
