Some Mods Needed
While I have bought two of these Fender hangers and they have not failed me yet, I have to add that they require some mods(unless you have cheap guitars you don't care about). Mod #1 was an aluminum face plate that captures the black metal tubular part that goes into the wooden portion. I just didn't trust the little black plastic plug installed from the backside to keep these two parts from separating. Mod #2 is to replace the black foam rubber cushions with 5/16 rubber fuel line(the cushions will wear through to the metal, not good). Mod #3 is to throw away the screw anchors(unless you have cheap guitars you don't care about) and go with longer screws to anchor into the studs or in my case long tapcons that go through the drywall, furring strip and into the block beneath. Fender branded that is not good.
This works after a fashion. It does NOT stay tight to the wood wall piece and is held in by friction only! If you value your guitar, this is not the hanger to use. Highly disappointed. Other Fender products have been just fine if a bit more expensive. I don’t mind that. But this wall hanger is mostly junk. Replaced with top quality wall hangers from Top Stage which are blind bolted to the wood wall piece and, if stud mounted, are not going anywhere in this century. Now I don’t worry if one of my heavy bass guitars is going to drop off the wall.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Not secure enough
It looks great, but the system used to fix the hanger to the wall is not secure enough. They definitely need to redesign the way the hanger is held in place into the wooden mount. I had to put two screws in it to play it safe, it is my beloved guitar that will be hanging there after all.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

The best of the best. Be aware of notch position when assembling.
Just be careful when putting it together. There is a notch in the cylinder that needs to be on top... I got lucky. The notch was somewhere in the 2:00-o'clock range; so, I didn't have to take it apart to get the notch in the right position; but, I wasn't paying attention to the notch when I tapped the securing-cylinder-plug into place (from the backside). Once assembled, there's no (real-good) way to disassemble...Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
