    Great tool for heavy digging

This type of spade makes heavy digging much easier, my stony ground is however taking its toll on the blade which is chipping and bending. Not sure if a higher quality one would alleviate the chipping and bending or if it’s inevitable given the stones I have. Currently sticking with lump hammer and file to reshape blade.

    Poor quality handle beech wood.

I got this item to dig 15mm new trench for flower border. I have to say that the pole is very small (120cm ) for large projects and extremely light weight. The pole is made from very poor quality beech wood. The first attempt on the ground it broken into two parts. I would recommend buying only the hoe and find a better pole elsewhere.

  • Most handy tool ever

This 'so called' Dutch hoe may well be that, but to me, it also masquerades as the most useful construction tool typically used in Asia. Not only can one use it in the garden as hoes are, but it also mixes concrete effortlessly. Because of it's length, it makes light work work of groundwork, where other hand tools inflate one's chiropractioner bills!! Used on it's side, it levels ground smoothly and for tough and stubborn underground roots, it slices through and excavates them for breakfast. I have used the back of the head to knock down masonary as it's so heavy duty and with deft action it can be used as a rake.......... Add this tool to your garden collection and reap the benefits, it will last for years and I forgot to mention, you can also buy replacement shafts and heads as needed. Just don't over lever to breaking point and you can also grind them sharp too if they get over- used with all of the above......

  • Excellent garden tool

Good quality garden hoe, made of solid steel and at 2 and a half lbs, easy to use. The handle is of suitable length and made of solid polished wood, quite impressed. It doesn't need the user to bend so much, making it easier on the back. Its quite sharp and cuts into the ground quite easily making the job in hand much easier. I bought this hoe to clear a patch in my garden in preparation for re-turfing and I am so happy that this product didn't disappoint me.

  • So far so good!

I’ve only used this for one day but boy has it made digging weeds out of the garden easier than I’ve ever known before I can’t tell you! I wish I’d discovered this tool much earlier in life! I’m a slight woman of senior years (60) and I’ve found it extremely easy to use, even not being able to swing it too high it cuts into the ground and through roots like a knife (not tree roots they’re a lot harder...but not impossible) The only problem I’ve found so far is the spade will only stay in place for a short time and then it falls down the handle so I’ve had to hammer it back into place...that’s why I haven’t given it 5*....so...have a hammer to hand! It’s a bit annoying but worth the few minutes it takes to hammer it back into place. Whether doing this will prove to eventually not work I don’t know yet but so far so good!! There’s no chance that the spade will fly off though because the spade end of the handle has a much larger girth than the end that you hold. If it gets too heavy I’ve found holding the handle a bit lower down works well. Weeding is easy-peasy...so far so good 😊

  • Great tool

This is the preferred tool for digging all over Asia, cuts through roots and turf easily with less effort, The blade is thin and sharp but still very rigid due to its slight curve, the hardwood handle is extremely light and comfortable to grip. Can be used to dig deep and pull the soil toward yourself by swinging high. Or scraping soil or gravel into piles using the side or cutting edge. Cleaning out drains is easy with it as well. All in all an excellent tool that I cant fault.

  • Pleasantly surprised by the quality at bargain price!

When I bought this, I wasn't expecting such a quality product. I have been using it for several weeks now and it so easy and convenient to use. I was using a heavyweight mattock (pick axe style) but it was much heavier and shorter so was much harder work. The Azada by contrast is lightweight but solidly built and hacks through soil easily. I've had a dreadful bindweed problem and have been using the Azada to remove the roots. Overall, I'm VERY pleased with this purchase. I'd also recommend this seller as it arrived very quickly!

  • Hoe Hoe , a fair price, the handle is the thing!

There are more expensive versions of this very useful tool and the quality difference seems to be the handle. This one is light and comfortable, slightly too shiny for grip in soft hands or gloves. The head is Chinese and robust, wide, the edge sharp and for general digging is the perfect tool. The handle does have a large wood knot in it and this is showing signs of splitting. I have put some cricket bat repair tape around it, perhaps a bat rubber for grip! All in all it works well and durability for such an impact tool will await longer use. You can easily pay twice as much but expect a far better wood on the handle. Makes upright digging far easier than a spade, this is the tool of choice in many agricultural settings so no gimmick.

  • Good Value, heavy duty

This is the largest size. From the photo you might think it's thinner but it's the 2.5lb wide head. Mine required a bit of file work to remove sharp rough edges around the eye and to sharpen up the digging edge a bit but to be expected. Handle not great, but fits well and lightweight. Will probably replace with better quality hoe handle. Does the trick. Can't really go wrong

  • Looks to be very good item with well mad...

Looks to be very good item with well made good quality wood hundle that look to be stable and strong and should not break easily like the other one I had at home before.
