These grenades work well enough on big rounds but you have to be able to swing a heavy sledge hammer.
I bought 2 of these grenades as my 6lb splitting axe just buries itself in the 20 inch (40cm) Willow tree rounds. Willow is tough and springy as its used for cricket bat blades and I have needed both as sometimes one gets buried. Starting them off is the only trouble as they have a blunt point. I might grind a sharper point on them one day. They do indeed do the job as I give them a pounding with a 12lb sledge hammer. Works better with dry wood
I bought this to split logs from a tree I recently cut down. Would be brilliant if the wood was a bit drier so it wants to stay together rather than splitting. I smashed it into a log & you can see the sap oozing out around the splitter. But it does what it says on the tin & splits the wood well. Just a lot harder work than I expected because of the sap. Sure splits logs.

I think the utility of this depends on the type of wood you are trying to split. Most of the time it just embedded in the log rather than splitting it. It requires a huge blow to split many logs which is tiring. I find it easier to just cut this chainsaw.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
