Very close to a hibachi grill used in Japanese restaurants. Haven't used it yet for anything other than hibachi, but I'm sure it will perform like a grill in restaurants. Only negative was the bottom shelf was bent during transit. A little bending and got it installed okay. It is not like a real hibachi griddle, porous surface , it stains with heat, all food sticks and a pain in the rear to clean !
I was all happy when I received it, assembled really fast, first time I used it stained the top, the food sticks and makes a nasty buildup. My friend has it and she used it ONE time and put it away, if she had told me before I would had not bought it. Pain to clean because the surface is porous unlike a real hibachi, also the cover from Blackstone once installed makes a pool like puddle over when it rains and if it leaks rusts the surface, even to make a little piece of meat is a job to clean ……...I ended up returning it and lost the freight back of the top plus all accessories.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Easy set up, has exceeded my expectations!) I like the portability aspect, make a couple adjustments and it fold up. Need to get more comfortable with controlling temperatures for certain foods. Very good tool that can do things a conventional grill cannot.
Bought this as a companion to my grill island. Wanted the flattop for vegetables and breakfast. Only two small complaints. I wish the pins for the cast iron top were a bit longer. They hardly engage in the frame brackets as is. Second, I wish the shelf were quickly and easily removeable. If it were so, the shelf could be removed and stored on the lower full shelf when the unit was not in use. This would significantly reduce its overall envelope, making for easier storage and smaller cover. Otherise, a well-built, well designed machine.
