Escient music server
Was excited when i saw this for sale , a very reasonable way to store my cd's to a hard drive player . Got plugged in ready to register it to Ecient servers online so that i could rip a cd and it would get all the cd info from gracenote but alas not to be . Ecient went bankcrupt a few years ago so you can't connect t thier servers to register so you can acces cd info . Everything else works fine with it , you can play and rip cd's but you have to but all the cd details in by hand which is a real pain . If you just want a cd player then great but its just too much trouble as a server without that vital internet album info . Very disappointingVerified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

High quality but with some limitations. Still good value.
It is of a very high quality finish and construction. These units were very expensive when originally released, so £40 is a bargain for such a high quality CD transport and DAC. However, as the other reviewer has said, the servers for the CD information are no longer available. You need to rip your CDs to a PC and tag them before you transfer them to the server.
