A Good Weather Clock with Some Gotchas!
I had an 10-year old version of the La Crosse Technology Atomic / Weather Station / Projector clock. I never seemed to be able to get it to set the time automatically, even though I saw it try, it never connected. And the menu buttons were backward if you were trying to set the clock. It finally died with internal power supply issue.
This is MUCH better. The setup is much easier, the button labels face the right direction and it connects via internet. I also had to buy a new external sensor from their web-site (the old clock came with it).
The clock is setup via an app on your phone (either Android or iOS). That is also how you add additional sensors via a scan of the devices bar codes.
HOWEVER there are some gotchas! It only connects with an older 2.4 Ghz router, if you have a new 5 Ghz, it WILL NOT WORK! The second is that the wireless chip in the unit failing is a know issue and La Crosse has a replacement policy. (See their web-site).
Now this also come with the option for a subscription for AccuWeather. I'm not sure if this affects the clock or just the app. If it's the app, I don't care, if it's the clock and I lose part of the display I'm going to be ticked. The data should come from NOAH and be parsed locally. We will see in 15-more days,
