    Great results for laundry misadventures

I've bought this item twice from RC Modelz. Rit Colour Remover works really well and would recommend to anyone who has accidently mis-coloured their white items in the wash. Smells a little initially, so make sure you can ventilate the room you're using Rit in. I'll definitely be buying this product again and again (not sure what this says about my laundry skills!)

  • Most critical review

    Not as strong as expected.

I used a good amount of this product (slightly more than recommended) exactly as the instructions said, but did not get the results I had hoped for. It's not expensive so no big loss, just not very strong.

  • Works almost too well

Got some pink shirts for a work uniform which are bright pink. Thought I'd try and lighten them up a bit so I don't look like such a tit walking around work looking like a prize peacock. Tested it on an old blue shirt first with half a pack which had been washed loads of times, nothing happened. Chucked that shirt and used the other half pack on 1 of the fresh pink shirts. As soon as the shirt hit the water it instantly got rid of the colour. All I wanted to do was lighten up the pink a bit to maybe a pale pink instead of flamingo pink. This has made it exceedingly pale pink to where it is hardly noticeable as pink at all. For me this is a good thing but I'm not sure my boss will agree! My review is to say this product works exceedingly well on new clothes. If the clothes are old and have been washed loads it probably won't work. All it did was make the armpits yellow where the deodorant had stained them anyway. I will buy another pack and use a tiny amount to try and lighten up another pink shirt. The pic makes it look more of a cream colour but it is actually exceedingly pale pink now.

  • Amazing Kitchen Science

Amazing ! Kitchen science. I bleached a linen T-shirt (brown) and sweatshirt (pink) by accident and was gutted. Read up about this and thought I’d give it a go. So easy and fun to watch the colour literally fall away. I now have a buttermilk coloured sweatshirt and yellow shirt that i rather like. Might stop here but happily wearing my clothes again and feeling smug rather than clumsy. Win!

  • Powerful lightening effects.

This product certainly removes colour. I did it wrong, and accidentally got some fabulous random dyed effects that I couldn't have done better by design! But used properly according to the instructions it will remove colour evenly. I bet it's great for negative tie-dye effects as well though, and will be exploring this. I suggest you try your first pack on a test piece, so you know what to expect.

  • Excellent product

I followed the instructions to the letter and it removed all the unwanted colour from my white sports top and white sports socks. Only drawback is that you need a very large stainless steel pot or a top-loading washing machine to use this.

  • It works!

I had dyed quite a few garments following bleach accidents but the difference in colour between original and bleached areas meant that I could still see the difference after dying. Rit Colour Remover takes the fabric to its pre-dyed state so the new dye has a level playing field to go at, and it works. You'll be surprised to see the original colour of the fabric. I thought it would be white, it isn't.

  • Does exactly what it says

I bough this to remove the black dye (as much as possible) from a pair of black trousers before dying them a dark shade of green. One pack of Rit in hot water (95 C) did the job nicely, leaving the trousers a light shade of brown, which then took the dark green dye really well. A good result!

  • Brilliant

It removed the dye from my sofa covers from gold to a lovely beige and also removed some green dye I’d tried on the same covers. I did this as a trial and now can’t wait to get more of the product to take both settees down to a lovely soft beige. Very impressed. Saving me a huge amount of money for new covers. Thank you.

  • Small but effective in a bucket.

I ordered dye remover to prepare a linen blouse for re-dyeing because I had got bleach on it. After i ordered it, I saw you needed two boxes for machine dyeing, so that was out. I didn't want the fumes in the kitchen for the stove top method, so that was out. I thought of using the cook stove outside but couldn't be bothered to find it. The box arrived. It was tiny, really. In the end, I put two kettles of boiling water in a bucket, outside, added the Rit, and dropped in the previously washed blouse. as instructed. With some laundry tongs I moved it around a few times, The blouse went from dark brown to a creamy yellow really quickly, I left it for 20 minutes then carefully used the tongs to transfer to the washing machine for rinsing, then washing. Really impressed and will use again. I took some photos, but someone else has and mine would be more or less identical.
