Lacking quality and needs setting up
This is really hard to say, but people give this TV top reviews and say it works well out of the box. I am a fan of Panasonic TVs but this falls short of my expectations. I have to keep in mind that I am coming from a Plasma originally which does an excellent job of dealing with regular TV, and then a brilliant job of displaying HD channels (Sky or FreeSat). So the benchmark is high!
Comparatively the OLED TV here struggles with a below par signal, and even a touch with HD channels - very disappointing. So much for 'working out of the box'. It also really shows up picture abnormalities - watching the Dark Knight Bluray I can see weird ghosting that I can just barely see on my Panny Plasma. It handles gaming just fine and I get no motion blur. Colours are massively vivid - too much for me but I'll fettle the settings.
It maybe a fault of these 'refurbished' TVs, but mine had a broken cable-tidy - no big worry. But more worrying is that the TV stand is very flimsy - this is an incredibly heavy TV, and the stand just about seems up to the job, but getting it level is faffy. The cable 'flap' is also a joke, I cannot see cables fitting in and the flap going back on - just take it off.
I think aesthetically the TV looks nice, or at least is not too obtrusive. The remote feels a tiny bit nicer than usual, and being Panasonic works well. The menus are more responsive than other Panny products I own, nearly even slick!
Glad I didn't pay full retail price!
