    My newest Canon Printer

After some very bad printers, I choose Canon. I still have two other 7 years Canon printers. I like the available ink supply's. My newest 8520 does not appear to be as rugged as the others. Its not fair for me to say this, but it just feels less rugged. Hooking up our smart phones was so simple. Plus its Blue Tooth signal covers a wide area. So far so good.

  • Most critical review

Inexpensive and works well; it has several features that make it a good choice for most non-business applications..

The printer and scanner both work "as expected". The TR8520 is seemingly not as sturdy as the all-in-one model it replaced, the MX922. Canon seems to be making successive generations of its printers smaller and more compact, and lighter, but not as sturdy as previous models; "cheaper" is the impression one gets. I buy the Canon printers that use five ink cartridges so that I only replace the cartridge in which the ink has run out, not replacing all three color inks when only one color is empty. It's less expensive that way. For me that's definitely a selling point. Setup for use as a wi-fi device wasn't exactly "easy" and I did run into a few problems with getting everything working correctly, but I was able to figure it out. But I'm not sure that people without a good deal of experience working with computers and their components would have managed to get it all set up without a fair amount of help ... from ????. Canon's all-in-ones seem to be a pretty good value for the money and last a reasonable time before needing to be replaced. I really do not like the way that the front panel has to be lifted up on the TR8520. I'm anticipating problems down the road with that... . Just a sense. For an inexpensive all-in-one the Canon TR8520 is a good value and does seem to work well; for the purposes of most users I think that it does everything an all-in-one needs to do.

  • Good printer but with a large footprint.

I must admit that I was kind of forced into buying this printer because my old one died and I couldn't get the one that was the closest replacement. Generally it does everything well. The photo quality is very good considering it has just 3 color cartridges. The only problem I have with it is that it shouldn't be used in a dusty environment because it basically has to be opened up all the time (if you want to do remote printing), exposing the insides and especially the photo paper. The control panel has to be left up, the exit tray pulled out and the photo paper is loaded into the rear vertical tray with the print side exposed.

  • A fantastic, compact, easy to install & use, multi device with great scanning, faxing & printing capabilities.

Very compact but does a lot. Scans multiple sheets. Faxes without problems, prints great color. The printer does not seem to use much ink (compared to what I was used to). It is a network printer so it is accessible from smart phones, laptops, tablets and desktop computers all at the same time. It was easy to set up, basically installed itself. Great value for the under $100 (including extra ink) I paid for it.

  • Quality and Value. Best in class!

ease of installation, ease of operation, print quality very good. This is a home copier so you're not going to be copying or scanning hundreds of pages at one time. If you're tired of buying "disposable" copiers for not a lot less than this Canon, or purchasing from the company that still hasn't gotten the hang of workable, reliable ink jets, this machine is perfect for you.

  • Easy setup.

Great printer for the price. Easiest setup ever. Works with wifi or Bluetooth. Very easy to print from phone. Excellent value. Highly recommend.

  • Good printer for the $$

It was difficult for me to set up but once I figured it out it worked well. Not crazy about the fact that it goes into sleep mode at some point in time and one must walk into the room it's in and turn it back on. Other than that, works great although I've only had it a week.

  • Canon TR8520 Creates Beautiful Prints...

Easiest disc and wifi setup, ever. Form factor is far more compact, than bulky Canon MX922 it replaces. We stuck with Canon again, due to the simple user desktop interface and quality of prints, which rivals office LaserJet color machines. Our only gripe is the smaller paper trays, but now includes an additional 100 sheets drop-in style, behind the unit. Turn ON automatic OFF settings, via the touchscreen ECO feature.

  • Canon TR8520 Printer

The printer is a good buy for its price and features. I was surprised however, that you need to adjust (turn off) the auto off feature so you don't have to manually turn the printer back on after a period of time. The durability of the printer is not to the level of my previously owned 922 model.

  • Next time I will get one that has everything I need to set it up and will not need any special programs.

The printer is hard to setup, might be easier if you have Miracast. Tried the help page Tech came on chat and after telling me what was wrong wanted to charge me to set it up. I was not pleased with that. I was finally able to set it up but still have some problems along.
